16 National Conference of the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry will be organized by Department of Psychiatry and the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. "Social Psychiatry and Clinical Practice” is the theme for this conference since in the current scenario of clinical practice there is a growing concern on excessive emphasis on pharmacological treatments. Role of psychosocial factors and therapies, important for all medical disciplines, leave alone psychiatry, is largely ignored in busy clinics. The organizer body, The Indian Association for Social Psychiatry (IASP) will be completing its 25 years of existence in the year 2009.
