The 5th i-Rec Conference & Workshop is intended to supply a platform for academics, practitioners, government and civil society organizations to exchange ideas and expertise gained through different strategies of design and technology for long-standing disaster risk reduction. The conference is designed around a series of vibrant workshops and seminars, incorporating an amalgamation of formal and informal presentations. The 5th i-Rec Conference & Workshop will discuss the vital issues related to reconstruction, architecture, project management and construction management, urban planning, development studies, engineering and construction. The conference will address a range of themes such as, Participatory approaches for design and building in a rural context, Participatory approaches for design and building in an urban context, Innovative design and technologies for post-disaster reconstruction, Sustainability of interventions from a long-term perspective, Design and planning approaches for recovery and rehabilitation of towns and cities and Securing cultural heritage during post-disaster reconstruction.
