Event Profile
The Biological Sciences Group of Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, Goa campus, Goa, is organizing National Conference on Anaerobic Digestion and Renewable Energy through Microbes (ADREM), which will focus on research and development in the field of energy through microbes. Due to dwindling fossil fuel resources, energy dependent technologies may have to depend on renewable energy resources in the near future. As of today, renewable energy accounts for only 0.1% of world’s energy consumption. This is because the technologies available at the moment are too costly to convert to “commodity level” energy. A part of the solution may lie with microbes converting biomass to bioenergy. Microbes can convert chemical energy in biomass into the form of ethanol, hydrogen or biogas or they act as tiny bioreactors in which they transform the chemical energy directly into electrical energy. BITS-Pilani, Goa campus invites academicians and researchers to participate in the conference. The topics of the conference includes Biogas, Biofuel, Microbial fuel cell, Electron transfer processes, Novel Bioreactor system and process scale up, Sustainable development and Governmental Regulations. There will have invited lectures by experts in each session. Other presentations through oral or poster will provide an excellent platform for discussion among researchers.
