The 1st Congress of Asia Pacific Society for Mountain Medicine is to be held at New Delhi in the month of November. This congress is being organized by Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, New Delhi. Since its inception in 1962 the institute has extensively worked to become a center of excellence in the field of military physiology with special emphasis on High altitude and its ailments. The institute has the distinction of providing comprehensive treatment modalities for High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and frostbite and Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). This conference will be of use to scientists, students, researchers and armed force personnel in high altitude. The Conference will cover areas such as Physiology of acclimatization and Genetics of adaptation, Mountain Medicine, Prevention and Therapy of Mountain Medicine, High Altitude Agriculture, Technology for Poultry Farming and Pisciculture etc. A few of the topics which will be covered are performance at high altitude, herbs from the mountains, introduction into mountain medicine, soldier in high mountains, agro technologies for high mountains, sports and high altitude etc.
