Sankat Mochan Music Festival celebrates the birth of Hanuman, the monkey god. Several music festivities are organized during the festival at Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi. Sankat Mochan temple is one of India's most ancient temples. The festivities held at this temple continue throughout the night till dawn. Various artists from all over India come here to perform music and drama. On the occasion of Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, classical music is voluntarily played by the Indian Maestros. Plays based on Hanuman Charitra and works of Ram and Saraswati are also included in the program.
