The Summer Festival 2013 is celebrated every year in the month of May. The festival lasts for three days. It is held at the sole hill station of Rajasthan, Mount Abu. The town of Mount Abu acts as an ideal venue for the Summer Festival because of its charming location, sharp rocks, serene lakes, and pleasing climate. The festival aims to highlight the melodious classical and folk music of Rajasthan. The Summer Festival also provides a glimpse of the tribal life and culture of the state. The Summer Festival commences with a ballad singing. After the ballad singing, come performances of the folk dancers of the region. One of the special attractions of the Summer Festival of Mount Abu is the Sham-e-Qawwali. It is a musical show that enthralls everyone with recitals by some of the most renowned qawwals from various parts of the country. A few sports are also conducted such as the boat race on the Nakki Lake and a roller skating race. The festival concludes with a beautiful display of glittering fireworks.
