Ingredients:
- 2 pounds lean ground Beef
- 1 quart Water
- 2 Onions (finely chopped)
- 1 (15 oz) can Tomato Sauce
- 2 tbsp Vinegar
- 2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 4 Garlic Cloves (minced)
- ½ (1 oz) square unsweetened Chocolate
- ¼ cup Chili Powder
- 1½ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp ground Cumin
- 1 tsp ground Cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground Cayenne Pepper
- 5 whole Cloves
- 5 whole Allspice Berries
- 1 Bay Leaf
How to make Cincinnati Chili:
- Cook beef in water, breaking with a fork to a fine texture until tender.
- Remove from heat and cool.
- Place the meat along with the water in the refrigerator overnight.
- Discard the fat from the meat and heat over medium flame.
- Add onions, tomato sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, chocolate, chili powder, salt, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves, allspice berries, and bay leaf. Stir and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add some water, if required.
- Serve hot.
