Ingredients:
  • 5 small Potatoes (scrubbed and cubed with skin)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (softened)
  • ½ cup Cream
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg (ground)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black Pepper (freshly ground, to taste)
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can Sauerkraut (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 pound Turkey Kielbasa Sausage (sliced ¾-inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (softened)
  • Water (as required)
How to make Crawford Polish Bake:
  • Preheat oven to 325 °F (165 °C).
  • Place the potatoes in a large saucepan and pour enough water to cover them.
  • Boil the water on high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the pan. Simmer for about 20 minutes, till the potatoes turn tender.
  • Drain the potatoes and mash them.
  • Mix the mashed potatoes with 2 tbsp butter, cream, nutmeg, salt and pepper.
  • Place the sauerkraut in a casserole dish.
  • Top with kielbasa sausage.
  • Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat.
  • Dot the preparation with 2 tbsp butter.
  • Bake for 20 to 30 minutes till the mixture is heated well through.
