Ingredients:
- 2 cups dried Brown Lentils (rinsed and drained)
- 3 cups Chicken Stock
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1 cup Carrots (chopped)
- 1 cup Celery (chopped)
- 1 cup Onion (chopped)
- 1 cup Ham (cooked and cubed)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ¼ tsp Nutmeg (freshly grated)
- 5 drops Hot Pepper Sauce
- ¼ tsp Caraway Seed
- ½ tsp Celery Salt
- 1 tbsp fresh Parsley (chopped)
- ½ tsp Black Pepper (ground)
How to make German Lentil Soup:
- Place a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker on heat and combine lentils, chicken stock, bay leaf, carrots, celery, onion and ham.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, nutmeg, hot pepper sauce, caraway seeds, parsley and black pepper.
- Cover the cooker and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
- Remove the bay leaf.
- Ladle into soup bowls and serve hot.
