Ingredients:
- 1 Egg
- 1¼ cup Milk
- 1 Lemon Rind
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 6 slices Stale Cake (½-inch thick)
- ½ tsp powdered Cinnamon
- 3 tsp Sugar
- Pinch of Salt
How to make Italian Fritters:
- Cut out the cakes into round shapes.
- Whisk egg and milk together. Mix in lemon rind, salt, and 1 tsp of sugar.
- Dip cake slices in egg mixture until soft.
- Heat 1 tbsp of the butter in a shallow nonstick frying pan over medium low heat.
- Place 2 dipped cake slice at a time in hot butter.
- Simmer until golden brown and turn to brown other side also.
- Remove from the pan and repeat same with remaining butter and cake slices.
- Combine cinnamon with remaining sugar and sprinkle over each fritter.
Suggestions:
