Ingredients:
- For Gulab Jamun
- 250 gms Khoya (Mava), grated
- 5 tbsp Plain Flour
- ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder
- Ghee (as required)
For Sugar Syrup
- 1 ½ cup Water
- 3 cups Sugar
For Stuffing
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- ¼ cup Almonds, chopped
- ¼ cup Pistachios, chopped
- ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder
- Few Saffron Strands
How to make Meva Bati:
- Mix mava, maida and ¼ teaspoon of elaichi in a bowl. Now, knead this to make a firm dough without using water.
- Take a small portion of this dough and mix in it the chopped almonds, pistiachios, elaichi powder and 1 tablespoon of sugar.
- Mix well all the ingredients and keep it aside, to be used as the filing mixture.
- Now, take a small portion of the dough and make a round ball putting little filling mixture at the centre.
- Take care that there are no cracks on the surface of the ball.Repeat this with rest of the dough.
- Now, heat a pan and put enough of ghee.
- When the ghee gets melted and is hot, deep fry the gulab jamun balls till they turn golden brown. Make sure to keep the flame low, while frying the gulab jamun balls.
- Keep the fried gulab jamun balls aside.
- Now, take a large pan with 1 ½ cup of water. Add to it 3 cups of sugar. Boil the sugar and water mixture till it reaches one string consistency.
- Remove from the flame and add the saffron strands. Now, add the already prepared gulab jamun ball in it. Soak the balls in the sugar syrup for around 30 minutes.
- The yummy Meva Bati is ready to be served!!
