Ingredients:
  • 2 tamarind (lemon sized balls)
  • Salt to taste

    For the Paste:
  • 2 tbsp Red Gram Dal
  • 2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Red Chilies (dried)
  • 4 tsp Oil

    For the Seasoning:
  • 2 tsp Ghee or Purified Butter
  • 2 sprigs Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • A pinch of Asafetida
How to make Milagu Rasam:
  • Fry red gram dal, pepper, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chilies in oil and grind it and make a paste out of it.
  • Boil the tamarind in water and remove the pulp of tamarind
  • Add little salt, water about 4 cups and make a boil.
  • Take about 8 cups of water and mix the paste.
  • Add the tamarind boiling water to it and boil it further
  • Fry curry leaves in ghee/ Purified butter.
  • Season it with asafetida, coriander leaves and the fried curry leaves.
Suggestions:
Serve with hot rice.
