Ingredients:
  • 2 glasses Black Gram
  • 1 Onion (cut into small pieces)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 2 Green Chilies (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • Few Curry Leaves (chopped)
  • 1 inch piece of Ginger (chopped)
  • ¼ tsp Soda Powder
  • Oil (for frying)
How to make Uzhunnu Vada:
  • Soak black gram in water for some time. Grind into a paste, adding ¼ cup water.
  • Flavor with salt and grind again.
  • Transfer into a large bowl and mix in the rest of the ingredients.
  • Shape the mixture into small round balls. Flatten each ball and make a hole in the centre.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the vadas, until golden brown.
  • Serve hot with sambhar.
