Ingredients:
- 1 cup Rice (rinsed and soaked for 30 min)
- 1 tbsp red Lentils
- 1 small Onion (sliced)
- 1½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Chili Powder
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ tsp Curry Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 8-10 Peppercorns
- 2 small pieces Cinnamon
- 2 Black Cardamoms
- 1 tablespoon Coriander (chopped)
- 2 green Chilies (chopped)
- 1½ L Water
- 1½ tbsp Oil
Cooking Instructions:
- Boil the rice and dal together until rice is tender and dal can be smashed properly with all spices except cumin seeds. It should not be thick.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When seeds become golden, fry the onion in it. Add this to the boiled rice- dal and simmer for a while.
- Serve with yoghurt.
