Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
- ½ cup Unsalted Butter
- 1½ cups Sugar
- ½ cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 120 g Unsweetened Chocolate (chopped)
- 2 tsp Espresso Powder
- 1¾ cups Pastry Flour
- ¼ cup Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- ¼ tsp Salt
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- ½ cup Water
For the Frosting:
- 2 cups Unsalted Butter
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 360 g Bittersweet Chocolate (chopped and melted)
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- ¼ tsp Salt
- 2½ cups Icing Sugar (sifted)
Cooking Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 °F.
- Grease two baking pans with butter and flour.
- Combine butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl. Beat until creamy.
- Whip eggs with vanilla in another bowl and fold in the butter mixture.
- Heat water with chocolate and espresso powder in a pan on low flame until melted. Remove and cool.
- Add butter mixture and whisk well.
- Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl.
- Add flour to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream, a little at a time.
- Divide the mixture amongst the two prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-35 min.
