Undergraduate Programs In China

Basic Structure
It is essential to complete and qualify the degree exam to be certified as a graduate. The engineering discipline comprises of 4 years, which is the standard length. Sometimes, private colleges may offer a course for 3 year durations but these are not certified by the Ministry of Education. Medicine and dental sciences requires 5 years.

Qualifications Required
Applicants can be from foreign educational institutions, legal non-governmental organizations and self-paid individuals from foreign countries. Non-Chinese applicants must ensure that they are in good health. Initially, the documents to be provided are: high school graduation certificate and academic transcripts. For a Bachelor's degree in Arts, the candidate must cross Level 6 of the HSK exams whereas for an undergraduate degree in Science, they should qualify 3 or above on the HSK.

Enrollment Procedures
Upon satisfaction of the university on the originality, validity of documents and conduct of the applicant, results will be published on the official site. An admission notice and the visa application form will be sent to those who have cleared the interview process. on the basis of the material obtained (original documents), the university will deem any individual eligible either for an X visa (study for over half a year) or an F visa (study for less than half a year) on request from the nearest Chinese Embassy or consulate. once enrolling and paying the fees, the next step is to complete the formalities for residing in China within 30 days. The passport, notification of admission, visa application form for foreigners and verification of physical examination are important during this time.

Fee Structure And Expenses
The fee structure varies with different universities on account of facilities provided and courses selected. An example, for a typical undergraduate program of medical science (6 years), the fee structure is as follows: Application fee - RMB400, annual tuition - RMB30000-40000 and annual accommodation - RMB6000. on the other hand, undergraduates in science and engineering have to pay RMB16500 as annual tuition fees and accommodation of RMB30-50 per day.

Financial Aids
There are various scholarship plans established to help students achieve their dreams of pursue a Bachelor's degree in China. Many universities themselves have finanancial aid programs to help students cover their tuition fees. South Normal China University pays an amount of RMB5000, RMB2000 and RMB1000 respectively, to those who rank first, second and third in academics, at the end of every year. The Chinese Government also offers scholarships, which can either be fulltime and partial, to international students and scholars.
