GMAT or 'Global Management Admission Test' is a standardized test that acts as a selection criteria for admission to business administration courses like MBA, Master of Accountancy, etc. This computer-adaptive test is designed to check a candidate's proficiency in the English language, analytical skills and quantitative aptitude of the candidate.
The GMAT test consists of three separate sections: Verbal, Analytical Writing Skills and Mathematics.
The verbal section is framed with forty-one multiple choice questions which should be answered within the given time limit of seventy-five minutes. The questions in this section are of three different kinds - sentence correction questions, critical reasoning questions and comprehension questions.
The analytical writing section comprises two essay questions. Each essay has to be completed within thirty minutes.
The quantitative section is prepared with 37 multiple choice questions and the time limit is seventy five minutes. This section consists of two different types of questions, which are, problem solving questions to check the candidate's qualitative reasoning ability and data sufficiency questions to check the candidate's quantitative reasoning ability but with an unusual set of directions.
The GMAT test is conducted five days a week (Monday to Friday), round the year. Each candidate will be awarded a score based on performance and this score is valid for up to five years from the date of examination. Candidates cannot appear for another GMAT before the passing away of thirty-one days. Calculators are not allowed!
