Preliminaries

Apply to various scholarship programs and financial grants, even though Spain has the fourth lowest cost of living in the whole of Europe. Carefully research all the criteria such as academic fees, living cost and admission procedure suitable for the chosen university.

Entrance Examinations
  • For undergraduate and post graduate programs, the application and eligibility procedures differ. However, the basic guidelines are more or less similar.
  • For an undergraduate program, a student should have successfully completed upper secondary studies with a valid school leaving certificate.
  • For a Masters' program, the student should have a relevant Bachelor's or equivalent degree diploma.
  • For a PhD program, the candidate must be in possession of a relevant diploma or Master's degree program.
  • For all the above courses, an English proficiency test needs to be taken or alternatively, the ELTS or ToEFL scores are considered
Documentation
  • A statement of purpose is a document which the applicant writes in order to market their skills, talents, hobbies and academic performance. Academics include grade point average, scholarships, etc. The desired university would also be interested in finding out about your interests, knowledge of current events, future plans and the official college transcripts.
  • Another requirement in your admission procedure would be the letter of recommendation. While a statement of purpose is primarily a manuscript which states the opinion of the candidate, a letter of recommendation is the opinion that your teachers or professors have. Most universities follow a unique format and ask the applicant to fill in a particular form and mail it to the university directly. This ensures confidentiality and credibility.
Visa
obtaining a student visa is not difficult, if you have the following items handy:
  • A completed visa application form.
  • 4 passport size photographs.
  • A valid passport.
  • Return travel tickets or an itinerary and proof of payment for these tickets.
  • Proof of purpose of visit.
  • Bank balance statement for the last three months.
  • An acceptance letter from the university that you have applied to.
  • Medical certificate from the physician.
  • Police clearance certificates (for any country of residence during previous 5 years).
