Juarez Autonoma de Tabasco or Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco (UJAT) is a popular public University located in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. It is the largest and most prestigious higher education institute in the country. The University puts in a lot of efforts to prepare professionals by providing them with broad and deep expertise in their area of study so that they can fill the needs of the state and the country. The strength of the University lies in its efficient staff and skilled students. The University has enrolled over 35,271 students and the number of teaching staff exceeds 2,000. The University offers Bachelor's degrees in 36 disciplines, Master's degrees in 26 areas, three doctoral degrees, and 17 post-graduate certificates (Especialidades). The University offers courses in a number of disciplines like law, education, management, engineering, medicine, architecture, nursing, dentistry, etc. It also offers around 30 additional degrees in other disciplines. The University was established back in 1860 by the initiative of Victor Duenas, the then governor of Tabasco. on the recommendation of Victor Duenas, the then president of Mexico, Benito Juarez granted funds to establish a preparatory college to serve the community of Tabasco. In 1958, the director of the Juarez institutes put forth a bill to upgrade the institute into a University and on November 1958, the institute was upgraded and renamed as Universidad Juarez Autonoma de Tabasco.
